vI bring to this position extensive experience in, and knowledge of, music composition & pedagogy, and a demonstrated passion for teaching.  A 17-year veteran of teaching music in the New York area, I have taught hundreds of aspiring musicians and music lovers, both young and old.  I have studied classical music and am a talented pianist who has been giving piano lessons for over 15 years as well.  I have two Master’s degrees, one in music technology, with an emphasis on film scoring and multimedia, and one in classical music composition.  I have studied music composition with Bruce Saylor, Hubert Howe, David Schober, Robert Rowe, and Jae-yeol Park.  I also studied film scoring with Ron Shadoff at NYU.  I additionally am an expert of computer and electronic music.

vSo far I have studied not only classical music but also instructional technology with an emphasis on music instructional technology for 7 years at Columbia University so I am able to develop on-line courses and new curriculums in music, which will allow even wider access to your school’s offerings for prospective students who can only do distance courses.  I can develop and evaluate courses aptly and can confidently teach even the most basic musical abilities to students, such as sight reading, harmony, and music dictation.  I currently serve as President of the Queens College New Music Group, organizing concerts for new 21st century music.  I look forward to continuing to participate in bringing music in such ways to the broader community as well.
